Rhinoplasty in Hermosillo

A nose that still looks like you — and breathes better than before.

Nose surgery performed by otolaryngologists (ENT surgeons) certified by the Mexican Board of Otolaryngology & Head and Neck Surgery. Your consultation includes a full endoscopic examination of the upper airway, because shape and breathing are solved in the same operation. English spoken — Dr. Reta sees patients from Arizona himself.

A surgeon, not a package

You are choosing the surgeon who will still be seeing you six weeks later.

Most of what is advertised to American patients as surgery in Mexico is a package: a coordinator books you, a surgeon you meet the day before operates, and then you go home. If something needs attention in week three, there is no one to see.

This is a medical practice, not an agency. The surgeon who examines you is the surgeon who operates, and the same surgeon runs every one of your follow-up visits through the six-week mark. There is no coordinator between you and the person holding the instruments.

Examined before anything is planned

The consultation includes nasal endoscopy of the septum, turbinates and internal nasal valve — not a look at your profile.

Airway and appearance in one operation

If there is obstruction, it is corrected together with the shape. No second surgery and no second recovery.

Two certified ENT surgeons

Dr. José Ramón Reta Vela and Dr. Mónica Q. Martín Reynoso, certified by the Mexican Board of Otolaryngology & Head and Neck Surgery.

Outpatient surgery

Rhinoplasty here is ambulatory. You are not admitted overnight; you go back to where you are staying the same day.

Why an ENT surgeon

The nose is not only a shape. It is how you breathe.

Everything you see on the outside of a nose is held up by structure on the inside: the septum, the turbinates, the nasal valve. When an operation is planned by looking only at the profile, it is entirely possible to improve the shape and make the breathing worse.

We are otolaryngologists by training. Airway surgery is our specialty, and aesthetic rhinoplasty is built on top of it — not the other way around. Both are assessed before we operate, and both are corrected in the same procedure when your anatomy calls for it.

The consultation, step by step

What happens the day you come in

01

History and goals

What bothers you about your nose, what you expect from the result, and what medical or surgical history has to be taken into account.

02

Examination and airway endoscopy

External assessment plus nasal endoscopy of the septum, turbinates and nasal valve. This is where we establish whether there is a functional component.

03

Photographic analysis

Clinical photography to study proportion, profile, dorsum and tip — and to give us a baseline to compare against later.

04

Surgical plan

What is achievable in your anatomy and what is not. We would rather tell you in the consultation than after the surgery.

05

Timeline and what it involves

Technique, recovery, follow-up schedule and how to plan your travel around it — all defined at this visit, once we know what your case actually requires.

The consultation is booked by WhatsApp or by phone and needs no prior imaging or lab work. It can be scheduled for the same trip as your surgery when your travel makes two visits impractical — tell us where you are coming from.

Coming from Arizona

How the six weeks actually work

Our patients travel from Tucson, Phoenix and across Arizona. The follow-up schedule below is not optional extra care — it is the part of rhinoplasty that determines how the result settles, so it is worth planning your trips around it.

Surgery day

Outpatient. No hospital admission — you are discharged the same day and stay locally overnight.

Day 4 – 5

First post-operative visit. Most patients plan to remain in or near Hermosillo until this check.

Day 5 – 10

The range in which most patients feel ready to return to normal daily activity.

Weeks 2 – 6

Reviews every one to two weeks depending on how you are healing, through the six-week mark. For out-of-town patients we group these visits and coordinate the dates with your travel.

After 6 weeks

Swelling keeps resolving gradually over the following months and the definitive shape settles in that time. You keep direct contact with the surgeon.

Hermosillo is about four hours from Tucson by road through the Nogales crossing, and its airport connects with Phoenix, which is what makes this schedule realistic for Arizona patients. A valid passport is required to re-enter the United States.

Procedures

Nose surgery we perform

Aesthetic rhinoplasty

Dorsum, tip, proportion and profile, aiming at a result that reads naturally with the rest of your face.

Functional rhinoplasty and septorhinoplasty

Corrects a deviated septum and nasal obstruction together with the shape, in the same procedure.

Revision rhinoplasty

A second operation when a previous rhinoplasty did not resolve the shape, the breathing, or both.

Nasal fractures

Recent nasal trauma, and correction of the deformity once a fracture has already healed.

Cases

Before and after, our own patients

Every nose is planned on one person’s anatomy, so these results are not a promise. They are examples of what was worked on in each case.

Questions

What almost everyone asks

What does a rhinoplasty cost?

That is decided at the consultation, not before it. It depends on your anatomy, on whether the functional side has to be corrected, and on how much operating time your case requires. We do not quote noses we have not examined — a number given without an examination almost always changes later.

Will I breathe better?

If the examination finds obstruction, it is corrected in the same operation. If there is no functional component, the objective is to not compromise the breathing you already have.

Will it look done?

The goal is not a standard nose. It is a nose that is proportionate to your face. At the consultation we tell you which changes are reasonable for your anatomy and which are not.

How long do I need to stay in Hermosillo?

The surgery is outpatient and the first check is on day four or five, so most out-of-town patients plan to be nearby until then. The visits after that are every one to two weeks up to six weeks, and we coordinate those dates with your travel.

Do you speak English?

Yes. Dr. Reta consults, operates and does follow-up in English. You do not need to bring anyone to translate for you.

I had rhinoplasty before and I am not happy with it. Can it be corrected?

That is what revision rhinoplasty is. It needs a more detailed assessment, because we have to work out which structures were modified in the first operation.

Do I need any tests before the consultation?

No. Come to the consultation; the studies that apply are ordered from there, along with whatever the anesthesiologist requests.

Will my US insurance cover this?

Assume not. Most United States policies do not cover elective surgery performed abroad, and we do not bill American insurers. If you carry a Mexican major-medical policy, ask us — when the assessment documents a functional component we prepare the pre-surgical medical report the insurer requires.
